To conduct our 2015 running headlamp test, test director Jacob Waltz used these lamps on runs of up to two hours in duration on road and trails. He compared them side by side rating them on our five main criteria—comfort, brightness, ease of use, features, and run time. The Gear Institute Rating is the combined score across all categories, representing the highest overall level of performance.
